Why I spent $145 on boots and I’m not mad about it

$145 is a lot of money. It’s a lot of money for one pair of shoes, or for anything really. But I don’t regret it for a second. Let me explain…..

I have been looking for brown leather lace up boots for a long time. Like, over a year. I have tried all the local thrift stores to no avail. So I kept looking online to see if I found anything I like. Enter, Kodiak amaze-balls boots.
I put a watch on them to see if they went on sale. They finally went on sale (down to $139 but hey every ten bucks counts!) I had a $10 off coupon from my mom (she buys a lot of shoes….) through DSW’s rewards program. So I finally bit the bullet and bought the shoes.
And let me tell you, they are darn near perfect. They fit amazingly, they are warm but not too warm, lace up, well made, good quality leather, excellent soles, and lifetime repairs. That last bit really got me. The fact that someone will fix these beauties should anything happen to them, literally ever, is amazing. The quality is out of this world and SO comfortable! I cannot recommend them highly enough.
But why was I happy to spend that kind of money on boots? Because I will wear them for years, YEARS! Even if I only wear them for two years, let’s do the math. I wear my boots literally 9 months of the year. Nine months times two years is 18 months. 140/18 = $7.78 per month. That’s practically nothing! Less than two cups of coffee. Add in the fact that if anything needs repaired, Kodiak will take care of it. That’s a pretty fantastic bonus.
So yes, I love these boots. I will continue to love these boots as long as possible, and thus I’m not upset about the cost. The alternative would be to buy $40 boots every couple months, because that’s how quickly they wear out or become uncomfortable. I don’t like trendy boots. I prefer a classic, never goes out of style bot. Plain, no frills, perfect.
